PATERSON, NJ – On March 11, several members of the Paterson Fire Department attended the Council Meeting to discuss the status of a proposed new contract.  The contract took two and a half years to be drafted, and was given to the Council on November 2, 2007, in the midst of the budget hearing process.  All but one Council Representative agreed that it would be irresponsible to vote on such an important contract without in-depth consideration of all of the issues involved, as well as the impact on the taxpayers.  Since this meeting, a court ruled that the Council should not be forced to vote on the contract. Watch Councilman Goow explain the ins and outs of the proposed Fire Department Contract
